As far back as I can remember, I've always drawn. As a toddler, my first style focused on belly buttons and extra-large ears. Although my style has somewhat refined itself since then, I'm afraid I never practiced on regular basis enough to perfect it as other artists have. Creating graphic novels as a child used to excite me, but not since then has drawing truly felt worth my devotion and time.
Nowadays, it merely feels like a vessel to put my symbolic ideas across. I'm only interested in the end result: the time spent achieving it sadly feels like a waste, unlike my other artistic endeavours, (cosplaying, composing, programming, writing), for which creative process is not only expected to take a long time, but is welcomed to do so. Maybe a revelation in the future will rekindle that spark.
My style has been influenced by many sources: fantasy-realism and (in later years) anime/manga, but no other source has had the impact on me that European graphic novels has. Characters such as Astérix, Gaston Lagaffe, Spirou and Fantasio, Léonard, les Schtroumphs (Smurfs), with artists such as Franquin and Uderzo, influenced my visual style like none other.
Below is a history of my drawing through the years. Some of my most recent pieces can also be seen on the deviantArt community, under the name heartstrain: http://heartstrain.deviantart.com/

Original Works
I've always been attracted to fantasy settings. Although the European caricatural style has always been my forte, I've often attempted to delve into realism. I've hand-picked some of the most recent examples that weren't totally repulsive and loaded them here. Please forgive the obnoxious lined-paper media.
'Essence' A piece featuring fairies in the woods, made for someone's incarcerated friend.
A warrior attacking from above.
An Orc en guarde.
A female warrior performing a jumping slash.
An Ogre with its freshly killed Goblin.
A magician spinning into action.
A Dwarven warrior en guarde.
Two European-style medieval characters I once created but never did anything with.
More art of these unused medieval characters.
'R-chan': A racoon version of myself, from a long-ago message board topic.
Rolf, the Giant-Slayer-Turned-Alchemist, a legendary character borne of my old Warhammer RPG days.
Four heroes from my days of playing Warhammer RPG.

Star Wars Comics
Here are some Star Wars jokes that I drew around 1995. Drawn very feverishly, with no real attention for aesthetics, they're meant to be funny scribbles, not works of art. Also, for no apparant reason, I wound up writing some in French, entirely or in part. Those are indicated by (F).

Film Composers Comics
Around the time I first started hosting MusicalOtaku, I figured doodling caricaturized versions of my favourite composers might be amusing. It was, but I didn't have the time or motivation to keep doing it as a running series. A couple of strips did come out of it though, as well as all the James Horner icons that remain on the site to this day.

Assorted Fanart
Here is some fanart circa 2005~2006 where I've tried to pour on the symbolism and relevance to my personal life at the time. Most of it is based on the anime Fullmetal Alchemist.
'Labour of Love': An FMA symbolic piece on Edward and Alphonse's respective outlook on life.
'Mixed Expectation': An FMA symbolic piece about Alphonse's yearning and his failure to realize his true value.
'Schaefer's Team': The cast from Predator in chibi form.
'Swept': An FMA symbolic piece about rejection, yearning and temptation.

Parody Fanart
Not every piece of fanart I've produced was serious and gloomy. Here's the goofier side of my drawing hand. Certainly, the source of inspiration for some of these is lost to some ancient inside joke that will likely be cryptic when taken out of context, but they can still give a chuckle for their sheer randomness value.
'Alex the Fourth Elric Brother': A combination of the three others.
'Hero Worship': Does this image represent Edward's subconscious? Or Alphonse's aspiration? Or my own??
A take on Chrono Trigger.
Harry Potter Book #7: Alternate Chapter 33
'Give 'em An Inch': An FMA projection of Alphonse gaining a social edge over Edward.
Ranma's shower instructions for Ryouga.
A different take on the Super Saiyan.
